India has participated for the first time in the Weimar Triangle format, marking a notable diplomatic outreach to a key European political grouping. During this engagement, Poland publicly supported India amid U.S. pressure over Russian oil imports, highlighting emerging strategic understanding between India and parts of Europe on energy security and strategic autonomy.

The Weimar Triangle, established in 1991 and named after Weimar, Germany, is a trilateral forum of France, Germany, and Poland aimed at strengthening European integration, political dialogue, and security cooperation, particularly in relation to Russia and Eastern Europe. India’s participation signals growing convergence with continental Europe beyond traditional bilateral channels.
