The Himalayan Sordid Emperor (Chitoria sordida sordida), a rare butterfly species, has been photographed for the first time in Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh. This marks a significant addition to the documented biodiversity of the region.
Earlier, the species was known from areas like Sikkim, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Bhutan and parts of Myanmar. The new record highlights the ecological richness of Namdapha and the importance of continued biodiversity surveys in Northeast India.
