For the first time in over five decades, the Delhi government, in collaboration with IIT-Kanpur, has carried out a cloud seeding trial to induce artificial rain and reduce the city’s severe air pollution levels.
The process uses chemicals such as silver iodide, potassium iodide, and sodium chloride as seed particles that help water vapour condense into raindrops, thereby cleansing the atmosphere of pollutants.
