Legendary filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, 84, is completing work on his 13th feature film, marking a new chapter in his 53-year-long cinematic journey that began with Swayamvaram in 1972. Known for his internationally acclaimed films, Adoor’s works have been featured at prestigious festivals including Cannes, Venice, and Toronto.

He has won 16 National Film Awards and 17 Kerala State Film Awards, along with top civilian honours—the Padma Shri (1984), Padma Vibhushan (2006), and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2004). In 1984, France honoured him with the Legion of Honour. His last commercial feature was Pinneyum (2019), followed by a short fiction film Sukhantyam the same year.
