Noted activist of the state and Padma Shri Chutni Mahto recently called up governor CP Radhakrishnan to submit a memorandum seeking his intervention to press for stringent rules to prohibit witchcraft or witch-hunting, a social menace which is still prevalent in Jharkhand.
In her memorandum, which she submitted along with Ajay Jaiswal, the secretary of her NGO Asha, Chutni has advocated framing of Witchcraft Prohibition Act on the lines of the one prevalent in Assam.
