International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day is observed every year on 26 April. The day is dedicated to remember the victims of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. It creates awareness about the catastrophic accident, in which approximately 8.4 million people were exposed to the harmful nuclear radiations

Lessons from the Chernobyl disaster:

Safety Protocols: Chernobyl highlighted the importance of stringent safety protocols and the need for continuous monitoring and maintenance in nuclear facilities to prevent accidents.

Human Error: The disaster was primarily caused by human error and design flaws. It emphasized the importance of proper training, adherence to procedures, and robust safety culture among nuclear plant personnel.

Transparency and Communication: Prompt and transparent communication during and after the incident is crucial to minimize its impact and ensure public safety. Chernobyl demonstrated the consequences of delayed information and lack of transparency.
