Bulgaria has joined the eurozone, adopting the euro as its official currency on New Year’s Day, becoming the 21st member of the Euro area.

Through January, the Bulgarian lev will continue to circulate alongside the euro to ensure a smooth transition. From February 1, the euro will become the only legal tender in the country.
