Located in the Jajpur and Cuttack districts, the three interconnected monastic sites together record nearly 1,500 years of Buddhist history, reflecting the evolution from Theravada to Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions.
Lalitgiri, the oldest site, dates back to the 2nd–3rd century BCE and served as an early spiritual and monastic centre.
