BHARATPOL portal developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)

The portal aims to facilitate real-time international police assistance and enhance India’s efforts to combat transnational crimes. Developed by the CBI, which acts as the National Central Bureau (NCB) for INTERPOL in India, the portal will improve communication between law enforcement agencies (LEAs) across India and INTERPOL.

India has become the second most targeted nation for cyberattacks in 2024, with 95 entities affected, following the United States. The finance and banking sectors were the hardest hit, alongside significant data breaches in healthcare, telecom, and education.

Implications

The surge in cyberattacks underscores the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures across all sectors in India. The rapid digitization of services has exposed vulnerabilities, making it imperative to enhance security protocols to protect sensitive data and maintain public trust.
