A petition has been filed before the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) Eastern Zone Bench in Kolkata challenging the legality of an ongoing road construction project within the Barak Bhuban Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam’s Cachar district.
The Barak Bhuban Wildlife Sanctuary is a proposed 320 sq km wildlife sanctuary in Barak Valley
Location: Between the Barak and Sonai rivers in the Moinerkhal range of the Cachar forest division
It is the second wildlife sanctuary in Assam’s Barak Valley.
