Assam government has announced the provision of ₹15,000 in financial support to each pregnant woman and newborn in the state’s tea gardens
The initiative is a part of Assam’s ‘Wage Compensation Scheme,’ aimed at promoting ‘Nari Samman’ by recognising and financially supporting women workers. It is expected to alleviate financial stress for tea garden workers, particularly in the crucial period after childbirth.
Note: Nari Samman Scheme has benefitted over 1.3 lakh women, with ₹127.77 crore already distributed directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
