Report on Awareness Session on Digital Arrests and Cyber Law Enforcement

An enlightening awareness session on Digital Arrests and Cyber Law Enforcement was recently organized by our institution to educate students about their rights and responsibilities in the digital space. The session aimed to shed light on the concept of digital arrests — the legal process of detaining individuals for online offenses — and the cyber laws governing them.

Expert speakers explained how activities like hacking, identity theft, and spreading misinformation can lead to serious legal consequences under the Information Technology Act, 2000. They emphasized the importance of responsible online behavior and highlighted legal safeguards available to protect innocent individuals from wrongful digital arrests.

Key preventive measures discussed included using strong passwords, avoiding suspicious links, verifying online sources before sharing information, and reporting cybercrimes through the government’s Cyber Crime Portal.

The session concluded with a Q&A, encouraging students to be vigilant digital citizens. It served as a timely reminder that while the internet empowers us, it also comes with responsibilities and legal boundaries.
