The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has been reorganised into two separate departments to strengthen urban governance and improve administrative efficiency. The new structure comprises the Department of Capital Development (Rajdhani Vikas Vibhag) and the Department of Urban Development (Shahari Vikas Vibhag).
The restructuring aims to enhance institutional capacity, streamline administration, and enable greater focus on the diverse and evolving development needs of urban India.
