The McDonnel Douglas F/A-18, also referred to as F-18, is a multi-role combat jet with twin engines and supersonic capabilities. It serves both as a fighter and an attack aircraft, hence the F/A acronym. The Hornet was designed by McDonnell Douglas and Northrop, which are now part of Boeing and Northrop Grunman respectively. It is used by various Air forces worldwide for close air-support and other roles.
