According to the Ministry of Home Affairs (2025), Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) has sharply declined, with only three districts—Bijapur, Sukma, and Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh—now listed as most affected.

Originating from the 1967 Naxalbari uprising in West Bengal, the Maoist movement once spanned 126 districts across the “Red Corridor.”

By 2025, this number has fallen to 11 affected districts, showing a near-terminal decline due to improved security measures, governance, and development initiatives.
