Internal Security

The Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier has inducted the Rampur Hound, an indigenous breed, into its canine squad, marking a shift from reliance on foreign breeds like German Shepherds and Labradors. Known for agility and adaptability, the Rampur Hound offers a cost-effective and efficient alternative for border security operations.

These dogs undergo six months of training at national centres, and only those passing final evaluations are deployed. The initiative reflects self-reliance in security infrastructure, promotes indigenous breeds, and strengthens surveillance capabilities along sensitive frontiers with ecological and cultural adaptability.
