Assam University, Silchar has announced that it is going to confer an honorary doctorate on Kabindra Purkayastha, Rongbong Terang and Sahitya Akademi Translation award winner Dr Diganta Biswa Sharma.
Kabindra Purkayastha is a former union minister and served as minister of state for communication in Atal Bihari Vajpayee government from 1998 to 1999.
Rongbong Terang was conferred the Padmashree for his literary work ‘Rongmilir Hanhi’ in 1981. He was also conferred with Honorary DLitt from Cotton University in May 2022.
Diganta Biswa Sarma is a Professor of Practice in Dibrugarh University. His responsibilities encompass educating and acquainting students with Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)
