Assam Police chief Gyanendra Pratap Singh has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership:

Formulating and executing policies to enhance the operational efficiency of the CRPF.

Ensuring the force is prepared to address internal security challenges such as insurgency, counter-terrorism, and riot control.

2. Operational Oversight:

Supervising operations in conflict-prone areas, including Jammu & Kashmir, the Northeast, and Left-Wing Extremism-affected regions.

Coordinating with state police forces and other central agencies to maintain law and order.

3. Administrative Functions:

Managing personnel deployment and ensuring the welfare of CRPF officers and staff.

Overseeing recruitment, training, promotions, and disciplinary actions within the force.

4. Crisis Management:

Leading the CRPF’s response to emergencies, such as natural disasters, communal violence, and insurgencies.

Advising the central government on the deployment and use of the CRPF during critical situations.

5. Policy Advisory Role:

Serving as a key advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on internal security and paramilitary matters.

Contributing to the development of national security policies.
