Defence and Security

India and the United States have signed a comprehensive 10-year framework to advance the Major Defence Partnership (MDP), aimed at deepening cooperation across land, maritime, air, space, and cyberspace domains.

The agreement was signed in Kuala Lumpur on the sidelines of the 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

This new framework builds upon the 2013 Joint Principles for Defence Cooperation and the 2016 U.S. recognition of India as a Major Defence Partner, setting a strategic roadmap to transform bilateral defence relations through joint research, co-development, and enhanced interoperability between the two armed forces.
