Tribal Empowerment & Development
The Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles has launched a skill-based empowerment programme for women of the Ollo tribe in Tirap district under Operation Sadbhavana.
The initiative focuses on providing livelihood training and economic opportunities to women belonging to one of Arunachal Pradesh’s smallest and most distinct tribal groups.
The Ollo tribe, inhabiting the Lazu circle, follows a traditional clan-based system with hereditary chieftaincy. Historically known for their facial tattoos and warrior culture, the community’s population stands at just over 1,500 as per the 2011 Census.
This initiative aims to blend tradition with progress, ensuring inclusive development and greater self-reliance among tribal women
