The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) released the Centralized Public Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) monthly report for States for June 2023.
As per the report, under Group A- in North-Eastern States Sikkim tops the chart followed by Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The government of Sikkim tops the ranking among the North Eastern States with a score of 66.70%, followed by the Government of Assam with a score of 57.45% and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh with a score of 52.30%.
Sikkim has disposed of 173 grievances with an average closing time of 43 days from January to June 2023.
The said report provides a detailed analysis of types and categories of public grievances and the nature of disposal.
This is the 11th report on States/Union Territories Government published by DARPG.
A total of 62,929 Grievances were Redressed by State/UTs in June 2023. This has meant that the pendency reduced to 1,88,275 grievances across the States/UTs Governments.
The government of Lakshadweep tops the ranking among the Union Territories with a score of 70.41% followed by the Government of Andaman & Nicobar with a score of 64.55% and the Government of Ladakh with a score of 55.25%. Lakshadweep has disposed of 181 grievances with an average closing time of 14 days to emerge as the topper of this group.
The government of Uttar Pradesh tops the ranking among States with more than 17,500 grievances with a score of 63.90%, followed by the Government of Jharkhand with a score of 48.95% and the Government of Madhya Pradesh with a score of 43.53%. Uttar Pradesh has disposed of 1,23,633 grievances with an average closing time of 24 days to emerge as the topper of this group.
The government of Telangana tops the rankings in States with less than 17,500 grievances with a score of 74.44% followed by the Government of Chhattisgarh with a score of 57.50% and the Government of Kerala with a score of 52.16%. Telangana has disposed of 3,043 grievances with an average closing time of 7 days to emerge as the topper of this group.
The report also brings out the deliberations made during the meeting between the Secretary, DARPG, Shri V. Srinivas and the Chief Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir on 23rd June 2023. The objective of the meeting was to assess the status of grievance disposal in the Union Territory (UT) on the Central Government grievance portal CPGRAMS as well as Jammu & Kashmir government grievance portal JKIGRAMS. The Nodal Officers across the UT also attended the meeting.
The initiation of rankings is part of the DARPG’s effort to improve the grievance redressal and delivery amongst States/UTs and in line with the recommendations of the 127th Parliamentary Standing Committee which recommended that DARPG should monitor the effective redressal of grievances in the North Eastern States.
The rankings are based on the performance of States/UTs across the two dimensions (quality and timely disposal of grievances) for the period of 01.01.2023 to 30.06.2023.

Taking action against the ‘black sheep’ in the Assam Police, the state police department has dismissed twenty-four police personnel of different ranks since February 1, 2023 till date.

Pijush Hazarika held a crucial meeting with the representatives of four organisations of the Ahom Community today at Janata Bhawan, in connection with the issue of caste certificates to genuine members of the Ahom Community.
During the meeting, the representatives apprised the Minister that ensuring the rights of the members of the Ahom community is of utmost importance at this juncture.
the Committee will comprise members selected by the representatives of the Ahom organisations, who will be empowered with the right to verify the genuineness of the person who has applied for the caste certificate.
Underlining the importance of the challenges faced by the members of the Ahom community, the Minister further added that to expedite the process, the new Committee will be required to register under the Societies Registration Act of 1960 and a proposal will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval of the same.
The Minister hoped that this decision will largely benefit the people of the Ahom community in the days ahead in obtaining the caste certificates under a seamless process and that no genuine person will be deprived of their rights.

Apprehending the danger posed to the life of animals and owing to the unwanted traffic jams in the Kaziranga National Park area of Golaghat district, authorities have decided to impose a ban on stopping heavy vehicles, especially trucks on the outskirts of National Highway 37.
Sources claimed that the decision has been taken to avoid unnecessary gatherings at nine animal corridors, and ensure the safety of animals during monsoon season. To prevent wild animals from going to higher places and possible accidents, there has been a ban on the safe animal corridor from Haldibari to Agratali.
Accordingly, no heavy vehicles can be parked on the outskirts of the national highway for reasons other than technical glitches. Restrictions have also been imposed on public gatherings in safe animal corridors.
The use of bright lights at night has been banned in the areas of animal corridors in the district.
It is prohibited from playing loud sounds or music and honking loudly in the music system in the nine corridors or its adjoining areas.
These restrictions have been imposed with immediate effect. Violation of these orders will lead to action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, the order said.

As many as 300 children were rescued from illegal labour jobs in the month of June this year. This was informed by the Commissionerate of Labour, Assam
the commission informed that in the last six months of this year, more than 425 children were rescued further adding the staggering number of children saved in the month of June alone. The highest numbers of children were rescued from Guwahati, Barpeta and Dhubri.
They revealed that after the covid-19 period, the number of child labourers has increased.
to make Assam a child labour free state within 2025.
Moreover, the commission is planning to make amendments for the industry workers.

The Superintendent of Police of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Assam, Pranab Jyoti Goswami has been designated as the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) in Assam Police on Tuesday.
The order was issued by the Home and Political Department of Assam Government.

IPS officer and superintendent of police (SP) of Charaideo district, Yuvraj was sought by the Union ministry of home affairs for deputation. He was to be posted as the senior superintendent of police in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
According to the notification, the IPS officer was appointed to his new position on usual terms and conditions for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders.

In view of the consumers raising concerns against the discrepancies in their power bills, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday urged the valued consumers to send their complaints directly to his office.
CM Sarma informed that so far he received 60 complaints from consumers of which 57 have been resolved.

over 100 people from West Bengal have taken shelter in the state, fearing for their lives because of the panchayat election violence back home.
Violence had rocked West Bengal’s rural polls on Saturday, leaving 15 people dead while ballot boxes were vandalised, ballot papers torched, and bombs thrown at rivals in several places.

In a bid to strengthen the Maternal Health programme and Child Health Care in the district, Kamrup District Administration on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with North East Transmission Company Limited (NETC) for procurement of Bio-Medical instrument and equipment for 12 delivery points including district hospitals and First Referral Units (FRU) among others.
Under this MoU worth Rs. 32,85,100, the NETC will assist for procurement of Bio-Medical instruments and equipment for 12 delivery points of the government hospitals under the district to strengthen the Maternal Health Programme including Child Health care.
The agreement shall remain in force for six months from the date of release of first installment by NETC, unless terminated earlier in accordance with the provisions of the agreement which may be extended through a mutually agreed amendment of the agreement.
Notably, the Kamrup District Administration has taken proactive steps to encourage the corporate sector in the district to take up projects in the socio-economic sector, especially for improvement in the health and education sectors by strengthening the existing infrastructure for the benefit of the economically weaker section.
