The longest underwater hydrocarbon pipeline in Asia, stretching 1656 kilometers with a cost of Rs 9265 crore, connects Majuli to Jorhat in Assam has been completed. The pipeline, which runs under the Brahmaputra, is the longest river crossing by any hydrocarbon pipeline of 24-inch diameter and above in Asia and the second-longest in the world.
