HEALD (Healthy Liver Education and Alcohol-associated Liver Disease Prevention)
Definition:
India’s first multi-sectoral national movement aimed at promoting liver health, preventing alcohol use disorder, and ensuring early disease intervention.
Ministry and Implementation:
- Spearheaded by: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
- Implemented by: Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, under the GNCT Delhi.
Objectives:
- Prevent liver failure through integrated efforts in awareness, early screening, rehabilitation, and policy reforms.
- Reduce stigma around alcohol-related liver diseases by providing mental health support and community services.
