Three satellite-tagged Amur falcons, among the world’s longest-distance migratory birds, released from Manipur’s Tamenglong district last November, have successfully completed their transcontinental migration and are now wintering in different parts of Africa.

The birds — Apapang (adult male), Ahu and Alang (females) — are being tracked to study migration routes and strengthen conservation efforts. The initiative highlights Northeast India’s role as a vital migratory stopover and promotes international cooperation in wildlife protection.

APSC Relevance: Important for biodiversity conservation and migratory bird protection in Northeast India.
