AILA is an autonomous AI-powered lab assistant that can design experiments, operate instruments, monitor outcomes, and adjust procedures in real time — without continuous human supervision. Unlike most AI tools that only analyse data, AILA directly controls laboratory hardware.

Developed by IIT Delhi with collaborators from Denmark and Germany, AILA is meant to automate complex experiments, cut human effort and costs, and speed breakthroughs in areas such as materials science and experimental physics.
