Cimon (Crew Interactive MObile companioN) is an AI-powered, voice-controlled assistant developed by Airbus, IBM, and the German Space Agency. Launched in 2018, Cimon floats inside the ISS, providing hands-free support by acting as a database, computer, and mobile camera. It displays step-by-step instructions and video tutorials in astronauts’ field of view, reducing errors during complex tasks. Voice commands allow easy access to information, while its camera records experiments for real-time monitoring or later analysis by ground teams.
