White Rabbit (WR) is an advanced extension of the Precision Time Protocol (IEEE 1588) that combines precise time synchronisation with Ethernet networking. It enables synchronization of network nodes with microsecond-to-nanosecond accuracy through optical fibre networks.

Unlike satellite-based systems such as GPS, WR is transmitted through terrestrial optical networks, making it highly resistant to spoofing, jamming, and signal loss. It is widely used in critical infrastructure requiring ultra-precise timing.
