Economy / Logistics & Transport Policy

The Trucks-on-Trains model integrates road and rail transport by placing fully loaded trucks onto flat rail wagons for long-distance movement along Dedicated Freight Corridors, with trucks operating only at the origin and destination ends.

The approach is designed to move bulk freight away from highways, cutting fuel consumption, emissions and logistics costs. It also reduces road congestion and enhances the efficiency and reliability of long-haul supply chains through greater use of rail infrastructure.
