Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) will support a Rs 132.62 crore project to promote Tripura’s pineapple globally.
Proposal: Submitted by Tripura government to explore international markets for the queen variety of pineapple.
State Fruit: The queen variety was declared State Fruit by President Ram Nath Kovind in 2018.
Cultivation Data:
Area: 12,095 hectares
Annual Production: Approx. 1,77,433 tonnes
Objective: Boost exports and enhance the agri-economy of the region.
