Pangasius Icaria

Source: The Hindu A new catfish species has been discovered in the river Cauvery near Mettur Dam. The edible species has been named Pangasius icaria ( P. icaria) after Indian Council of Agricultural Research that discovered the species. The species belongs to the Pangasius genus.

Dwivarna crab

 A new species of crab, ‘Dwivarna’, (a new crab species) has been discovered in Uttara Kannada district and it is endemic to Yellapur. Dwivarna, which is around 3 inches long and 2 inches wide, is not edible and thrives on moss and lichens.
