Investigations by the Narcotics Control Bureau revealed that narcotics consignments from Myanmar were trafficked into India through the Mizoram–Manipur–Assam corridor, exposing the strategic use of Northeast India in cross-border drug networks.
Assam, particularly the Barak Valley region, reportedly functioned as a major logistics and distribution hub for methamphetamine and heroin moving deeper into India and towards Bangladesh. The case highlights growing concerns over transnational organised crime and border security challenges along the India–Myanmar frontier.
