Medical experts, including specialists from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi, highlighted a global shift in terminology where Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is increasingly being referred to as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS).
The new term recognises the condition as a multisystem disorder affecting endocrine, metabolic, reproductive and psychological health rather than only ovarian function. The updated terminology aims to improve medical understanding, diagnosis and holistic treatment approaches for women affected by hormonal and metabolic disorders.
