The Union Territory of Ladakh has been reorganised with the creation of five new districts, increasing the total from two to seven. The newly formed districts are Nubra, Sham, Changthang, Zanskar and Drass.
This administrative restructuring aims to improve governance, enhance service delivery and ensure focused development in remote and strategically important regions. It also facilitates better infrastructure planning and local administration in difficult terrains.
