The Kerala State Biodiversity Board has launched a pilot programme to restore sacred groves (kavus) across selected districts. These groves are traditional ecological sites rich in native biodiversity and cultural significance.
Kavu nurseries are being developed to propagate endemic and threatened plant species, acting as biodiversity regeneration hubs. The initiative aims to revive degraded ecosystems, conserve indigenous flora and strengthen community-based conservation practices.
