Manisha Bhanwala created history by winning gold in the women’s 59 kg category at the World Wrestling Championships. She staged a remarkable comeback from a six-point deficit to defeat American wrestler Abigail Nette 8–6 in the final.

With this victory, Manisha became the first Indian woman to win a World Championships gold in wrestling and only the second Indian overall after Sushil Kumar, who won the men’s 66 kg title in 2010.
