During the recent review meeting of the Brahmaputra Board, several books and documentaries highlighting traditional water conservation systems of Northeast India were released.

These included documentaries on the Dong irrigation system of Assam, bamboo drip irrigation of Meghalaya, rainwater harvesting practices of Mizoram and paddy-cum-fishery systems of Arunachal Pradesh. The Dong system is a traditional community-managed irrigation network practiced mainly by Bodo and Mising communities in Assam, where river water is diverted through earthen canals to irrigate paddy fields and support household water needs.
