India has supplied Prussian Blue capsules to Indonesia following reports of Cesium-137 contamination in exports and industrial facilities, at the request of Indonesia’s Health Ministry.
Prussian Blue, or potassium ferric hexacyanoferrate, is used in radiation emergencies to remove radioactive cesium (Cs) and thallium (Tl) from the human body. It works by trapping these substances in the intestines, preventing their reabsorption, and facilitating their excretion. By shortening the retention time of radioactive materials, the capsules reduce internal radiation exposure and its harmful effects.
