- Assam has decided to introduce Hindi as an official language for conducting proceedings in the Assam Legislative Assembly from the Budget Session beginning 6 July.
- With this decision, Hindi joins Assamese, English, and Bodo as the four official languages permitted for House business.
- This marks the first time that Hindi has been accorded official status for use in the Assam Legislative Assembly, aiming to make legislative proceedings more inclusive.
