The Centre has ordered the deployment of two battalions of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) in Manipur for operational duties.
Raised by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 2008–09, CoBRA was created to tackle Left Wing Extremism and insurgency. The force currently comprises 10 battalions, each with around 1,000 highly trained commandos specializing in jungle warfare and counter-insurgency operations.
