The Government of India has launched a Cell Broadcast Alert System to provide real-time warnings during emergencies and natural disasters. The initiative, implemented by the Department of Telecommunications, uses indigenous technology to send alerts directly to mobile users.
The system enables instant, location-specific messages across all telecom networks without requiring internet connectivity. A nationwide trial message was issued to test readiness, excluding poll-bound states. This strengthens disaster preparedness and public safety communication.
