The new bridge connecting Guwahati and North Guwahati will be named Kumar Bhaskar Varman Setu, in honor of the legendary Kamrupa King, Kumar Bhaskar Varman.
The announcement is part of the state’s initiative to celebrate and honor its rich historical and cultural heritage. Kumar Bhaskar Varma, who governed the region in the 7th century, is revered for his contributions to Kamrupa’s prosperity and his efforts in enhancing the cultural and political importance of Assam.
