Assam State School Education Board clarified that there will be no restriction on Class IX students choosing General Mathematics and General Science in English medium even if their remaining subjects are studied in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo or other mediums.
The Board stated that students may opt for English medium in the two subjects provided the concerned school has the necessary teaching facilities. The clarification was issued amid confusion during the ongoing registration process for the 2026–27 academic session.
