The Assam Cabinet approved the Assam State Data Policy (ASDP) 2026 to establish a comprehensive framework for data governance and digital administration in the state.
The policy proposes creation of a nodal agency called the Centre for Data Management to develop a unified statewide data repository for analytics and artificial intelligence applications. It also mandates systematic data sharing among government departments to improve coordination, governance efficiency and evidence-based decision-making.
The ASDP further aims to ensure compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and establish a structured state-level data governance architecture.
