Assam Science Society is a voluntary organization established as “Gauhati Science Society” in the year 1953 and subsequently renamed as “Assam Science Society” in the year 1956 to encompass entire state of Assam to cater its service by developing scientific temperament and also to create an environment for scientific research.
The Society has 100 branches all over Assam . Recently they have established one branch in Delhi NCR in the year 2023
One of its branches is located at Tikrikila in Garo Hills, Meghalaya
The Society has been publishing a Bi-Monthly Science Magazine “Bigyan Jeuti” in Assamese since 1961.
The Society is also publishing a Science Research journal since 1955 – “Journal of Assam science Society” renamed as JASS from the 2nd Issue
