Assam is in talks with filmmaker Aditya Dhar to produce a big-budget biopic on Lachit Borphukan, the 17th-century Ahom general who led the Ahom forces to victory over the Mughals in the Battle of Saraighat. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said discussions will be held in August, with the government willing to collaborate with other filmmakers if required.
The proposed film aims to bring the life, military leadership, and legacy of Lachit Borphukan to a national and global audience while promoting Assam’s rich historical heritage.
