On May 25, NASA launched one of two climate satellites designed to study heat emissions at Earth’s poles.
The mission, named PREFIRE (Polar Radiant Energy in the Far-InfraRed Experiment), involves CubeSats launched by Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket from Mahia, New Zealand.
These CubeSats will measure heat radiation from the Arctic and Antarctica, contributing to our understanding of the Earth’s climate dynamics.
PREFIRE is a collaborative effort between NASA and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
