A rare orchid species, Liparis mengziensis, previously known only from China, has been recorded for the first time in India from Arunachal Pradesh. This discovery extends its geographical range from Yunnan to the eastern Himalayas.

The finding adds a new species to India’s orchid flora and highlights the rich and still unexplored biodiversity of Northeast India. It also underscores the importance of continued botanical research and conservation in the region.
