Governance, Polity & Public Service Delivery
The Ministry of External Affairs has introduced the Passport Seva Mobile Van as part of the “Passport Seva Aapke Dwar” initiative to expand access to passport services in the rural and remote areas of the Northeast. This mobile facility aims to bridge the service gap by enabling citizens in isolated regions to submit passport applications without needing to travel long distances, thereby ensuring last-mile delivery of essential public services.
Currently, 6 Passport Seva Kendras and 19 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras operate under the Regional Passport Office, Guwahati, serving six northeastern states. The initiative marks a step forward in inclusive governance, digital outreach, and citizen-centric public service reforms in India’s frontier regions.
