The Meghalaya Tourism Department has introduced a comprehensive digital monitoring system requiring all accommodation providers across the state to register online and submit daily guest data through a centralised platform.

Key Features:

Applies to hotels, guesthouses, homestays, B&Bs, lodges, and inns.

Mandates daily online submission of guest data, including:

Arrival and departure times

Number of guests

Gender and geographic distribution (state/country)

Uploads of identity proofs, visas, and C-forms (for foreign nationals)

Purpose & Significance:

Enhances internal security by enabling real-time monitoring of visitor movement.

Replaces outdated paper-based record-keeping with digital transparency.

Aids in policy-making, tourism planning, and crisis response (e.g. contact tracing or crime investigation).
