During the state visit of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh to New Delhi, India and Mongolia signed 10 agreements, reinforcing cooperation in energy, defence, culture, and technology.

India will fund Mongolia’s first oil refinery through a $1.7 billion EXIM Bank Line of Credit, its largest overseas development project, aimed at ensuring Mongolia’s energy self-reliance. India will also send a Sanskrit teacher to the Gandan Monastery and collaborate on digitising one million ancient Buddhist manuscripts to preserve shared heritage.

The holy relics of Buddha’s disciples Sariputra and Maudgalyayana will be sent to Mongolia in 2026, symbolising deep spiritual ties. Additionally, a new MoU between Ladakh Hill Development Council and Arkhangai Province will enhance cultural and tourism exchanges, strengthening Himalayan–Steppe connectivity.
